Learn More About Our Strategies

Early Family Literacy

Reach out to parents and caregivers of young children. Give them skills, tools and support to develop a love of learning and school-readiness in the child.

Work alongside the existing system of family development programs to increase pre-literacy supports and program sustainability.

Read While You Wait

Fostering a love of books and of reading helps prepare young children for school, and provides intimate family moments. The "Read While You Wait" project promotes early literacy with the placement of book bins in various community wait areas.

This project is a partnership with the Chilliwack Early Years Committee (sub committee of the Chilliwack Child & Youth Committee) and is made possible with contributions from Chilliwack Foundation, The Book Man, Ford Mountain Correctional Centre, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and RONA.

Would you like a book bin for your business or neighbourhood? We have 10 new bins for our community to enjoy. Contact Debbie at 604-392-2404 or debbied@chilliwacklearning.com.

Marci's Family Literacy Workshop

This is a two hour workshop where parents of young children learn what “Family Literacy” means, why it’s important and how to help children learn in “everyday" ways. It’s a fun workshop with lots of activities and ideas to take home. Thanks to Raise-a-Reader for helping to fund this program.

Contact Marci for more information, or to arrange a workshop for your group, at marcib@chilliwacklearning.com or 604-701-9794.
